Dwayne has performed with many L.A. groups including Bernie Pearl, Wilson Pickett, Jeremy Jackson and Chet McCracken of the Doobie Brothers. His keyboard work is featured on Robert Altman's, "Welcome To L.A." and the film score, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". He has also performed with a multitude of jazz and blues from coast to coast, including the legendary rock group, The Association.

Touring with Papa John Creach he met up with Art Johnson and the two became best friends and seemed to be called for a multitude of gigs locally and internationally.

On The Papa John Creach album "Papa Blues", pianist Dwayne Smith, who had been blind from birth, memorized the taped “charts” provided, and would correct any of the lapses of memory or other deviations from my charts. His soulful, inventive piano powered the session.

On this "live" recording he is joined by Ralph Humphrey on drums, Ray Neapolitan on bass, Art Johnson and Bill Neal on guitars.
