Originally released in 1987 through an arrangement with Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab under another Dion moniker, Café Records, this was a follow up album to “GOOD LINES”.
Here Steve is accompanied by the late Gerry Niewood on saxophone, Billy Hart on drums, Steve Gilmore and Brian Murphy on bass, and Ray Brown on flugelhorn.
Brown has toured and recorded with Chuck Israels, Bill Dobbins, Sal Nistico, Claudio Roditi, Ben Riley, Walter Bishop Jr., Full Faith and Credit Orchestra and Chuck Mangione.
Bill Dobbins said, “Steve is definitely one of the most tasteful and consistently musical performers I have worked with.” Dan Morgenstern said that Steve Brown “is an impressive discovery”.
Guitarist, composer, arranger, Steve Brown, is also coauthor with Ray Brown of an instructional book and recording entitled An Introduction To Jazz Improvisation. Other performances or recorded releases include Steve Gilmore, Danny D'Imperio, Billy Hart, Bobby Watson, Bill Goodwin, Jimmy Smith, Barry Harris, Gerry Niewood and many others. He has performed at major jazz festivals including The Newport Jazz Festival, The Berks Jazz Festival, and The Edinburgh Jazz Festival.
